Porcelain Cabinet

The original plan for this room was to decorate all the infill in the panelling with painted porcelain plaques. The use of painting on porcelain was finally restricted to the panels on the double doors (with allegories of the Sciences and Seasons). Over the doors the paintings depict scenes from life at the French Court under Louis XV. The ceiling painting shows the "Genius of Art".
