The Herreninsel in the Chiemsee has an area of around 240 hectares and has numerous sights with Herrenchiemsee New Palace (Royal Palace), the park and waterworks, the museum and the two galleries in the Augustinian Monastery (Old Palace). We therefore advise you to allow yourself plenty of time to so that you can enjoy the attractions of this island to the full.
The following list shows you the time you approximately need for moving around and visiting the sights:

Please do not forget to allow additional time for visiting the island itself, the gardens and park as well as for breaks and for the sometimes unavoidable waiting periods.
A trail approximately 7 km long leads round the island alongside orchards and pastures. This will take you on well-shaded paths away from the crowds to interesting lookout points on the island. A walk that is well worthwhile!
